Every dollar, in its jar.
OurJamJar pulls in your bank transactions, sorts them for you, and shows your household exactly what’s left to spend this week — in a budget you can edit like a spreadsheet.
Read-only bank feeds Weekly and monthly budgets Built for NZ banks
How it works
Set up in an evening. Check in once a week.
No more copying numbers out of internet banking. OurJamJar does the sorting, so your weekly money check takes minutes, not a Sunday afternoon.
Connect your accounts
Link your bank through Akahu with read-only access, or upload CSV statements. Transactions are cleaned up and categorised automatically.
Fill your jars
Give each category a weekly or monthly amount — rent, groceries, fuel, kids’ sport. OurJamJar converts between the two so the numbers always line up.
Check in each week
See what’s left to spend, what’s running over, which bills are coming, and do a quick weekly review with your partner.
What you get
Everything your budget spreadsheet wished it could do.
A budget you can edit like a spreadsheet
See every category on one grid — budget, actual, what’s left, and the last few months side by side. Click a cell and type, or paste a whole column from Excel.
- Weekly and monthly amounts, converted for you
- Set when each bill is due — the 20th, every Monday, quarterly
- Subtotals by group, saved as you type

See where the money actually goes
Spend by retailer shows your top shops, what’s climbing, and how each one trends over time. Compare the supermarkets, spot the café creep, and find new places that have started taking your money.
- Top retailers for any period
- Biggest increases vs the previous period
- Compare two to five retailers side by side

Find the subscriptions you forgot about
OurJamJar spots charges that repeat — streaming, apps, memberships, insurance — and shows what each one costs per year. Mark each one keep, review or cancelled, and see what you could save.
- Recurring charges detected from your transactions
- Yearly cost at a glance
- A running total of what you’ve cancelled

Your mortgage, debts and the road to zero
Track your home loan and other debts with balances that update from your repayments. See when each one will be paid off, and when a fixed rate is about to roll over.
- Payoff projections for every loan
- Fixed-rate expiry reminders
- Repayments matched automatically

Bill calendar
Upcoming bills on a calendar, with your fixed costs totalled for the month.
Savings scenarios
Compare income options, see your monthly surplus, and what paying extra off the mortgage would do.
One-off tracking
Flag the new washing machine as a one-off so it doesn’t wreck your weekly picture.
Weekly review
A short scorecard and checklist to do together, so money talk stays quick and calm.
Made in Aotearoa
Built for how Kiwi households actually pay.
Weekly rent, fortnightly pay, quarterly rates, rego and WOF, power that spikes in winter. OurJamJar is designed around New Zealand banks and New Zealand bills, by people who budget this way themselves.

What is OurJamJar?
OurJamJar is a budgeting app for New Zealand households. It brings in your bank transactions, sorts them into categories, and shows how much is left in each part of your budget this week and this month. It also covers bills, subscriptions, your mortgage and other debts, and simple “what if” savings plans.
Can I sign up now?
Not yet. We’re opening OurJamJar to a small group of early users first. Join the early-access list and we’ll email you when there’s a spot.
Is it safe to connect my bank?
Bank connections go through Akahu, a New Zealand open-finance provider. You approve the connection with your bank, and OurJamJar only asks for read-only access — it can see transactions and balances, but it can’t move money or make payments. You never give us your internet-banking password. See Security & privacy for more.
Which banks are supported?
Bank feeds come through Akahu, which connects to the main New Zealand banks, including ANZ, ASB, BNZ, Kiwibank and Westpac. If your bank isn’t connected, you can upload CSV statements instead.
Weekly or monthly — which does it use?
Both. Set each category weekly or monthly, whichever matches how you’re paid and how the bill arrives, and OurJamJar converts between them (52 weeks ÷ 12 months). You can view your budget week by week or month by month.
How much will it cost?
We’re still setting prices and will publish them before launch. Early-access members will hear first, and nobody will be charged without agreeing to it. See Pricing.
